MS Medium – 1 L Dose (4.74 g)

What this is
A single pre-weighed 4.74 g dose of Murashige & Skoog (MS) basal medium, enough to make 1 L of classic tissue culture medium. No need to buy big tubs and manually weigh every batch.

You add:
• 30 g sugar
• 7–10 g agar
• Distilled/deionised water to 1 L
• Optional PGRs if your protocol needs them

Why it’s useful
• Perfect for small home labs that don’t want to store big bags of MS powder
• Great for learning and one-off experiments
• Easy to follow with simple instructions on the insert

Basic recipe (per dose)

1. Add one 4.74 g dose to ~800 mL water and dissolve

2. Add 30 g sugar and dissolve

3. Adjust pH to ~5.6–5.8 (if you have a pH meter)

4. Add 7–10 g agar, heat to dissolve

5. Top up to 1 L, dispense into jars and sterilise
