HackMyPlant Tissue Culture Starter Kit – Powder

Lab vibes, kitchen table.
This kit gives you everything you need to mix your first litres of plant tissue culture medium and start propagating at home – using the same style of PGR powders used in real labs, but in hobby-friendly amounts.

You get pre-weighed MS Medium doses, tissue culture agar, and three core PGR powders (IBA, NAA, 6-BA), plus jars and illustrated instructions in full HackMyPlant style.

What’s included

Media & agar

• 10 × MS Medium 1 L doses (4.74 g each)
  – Make up to 10 L of MS-based plant tissue culture medium

• 1 × 50 g tissue culture agar jar
  – Enough to solidify several litres of medium (depending on how firm you like it)

PGR powders (1 g vials)

• 1 × IBA 1 g powder – rooting auxin

• 1 × NAA 1 g powder – auxin for callus/root work (use low)

• 1 × 6-BA 1 g powder – cytokinin for shoot multiplication

Hardware & paper

• 6 × clear culture pots with lids (deli-style tubs)

• 1 × “Tissue Culture Quick Start” guide (HackMyPlant artwork)

• 1 × “PGR Cheat Sheet” card

• Jar labels 

What you’ll need at home

To actually run this kit, you’ll also need:

• Distilled or deionised water

• Ordinary white sugar

• A kitchen pressure cooker or similar for sterilising

• A small scale (for sugar/agar if you tweak recipes)

• Basic cleaning supplies (alcohol spray / disinfectant, paper towels)

We don’t include these because most home labs already have them or can grab them locally.
